  1. In The Once and Future King, Palomides is Pellinore’s boyfriend, basically.

    The mother thing is interesting. Maybe he *was* from Britain. Or came from Cordoba (although that city’s ascendancy is around least a hundred years too late for Arthur . . . ) when his mother, a member of the nobility there, married into the nobility in Britain. Although why she would leave the bright center of civilization for a frigid stinking island where (hilariously doltish at times) ignorant hairy damsel-ravishers who bathed once a year spent much of their time smacking each other on the head with swords, I don’t know. Except for the dinner theatre. ( ;
